The president reportedly asked the FBI director to stop investigating Trump’s top national-security aide—a bombshell that has an already-beleaguered White House begging for mercy. If you come at James Comey, you best not miss. The former FBI director—who President Donald Trump fired and then later threatened on Twitter last week—reportedly kept notes of their conversations, and some of those details are now making their way into public view. According to one of those memos, first reported by The New York Times on Tuesday, the president urged Comey to drop the FBI’s investigation into Trump’s former national security adviser. [Read more…]
First Republican raises impeachment for Trump
Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) on Wednesday said reports that President Trump pressed ousted FBI Director James Comey to end an investigation would merit impeachment if true, becoming the first Republican lawmaker to broach the idea. The New York Times on Tuesday reported that Trump tried to pressure Comey to stop investigating former national security adviser Michael Flynn, citing a memo written by Comey. Asked by The Hill if the details in the memo would merit impeachment if they’re true, Amash replied: “Yes.” “But everybody gets a fair trial in this country,” Amash added as he left a House GOP conference meeting. Putin offers transcript to prove Trump did not pass Russia secrets
Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that U.S. President Donald Trump had not divulged any secrets during a meeting in Washington with Russian officials and offered to prove it by supplying Congress with a transcript. Two U.S. officials said on Monday Trump had disclosed classified information about a planned Islamic State operation to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov when they met last week, plunging the White House into a fresh controversy just four months into Trump’s tenure. Ann Coulter Is Worried The ‘Trump-Haters Were Right???
Conservative author Ann Coulter was one of the most vocal supporters of Donald Trump during the presidential campaign. She wrote “In Trump We Trust” and proclaimed that she worships him like the “people of North Korea worship their Dear Leader – blind loyalty.” Coulter described herself as a single-issue voter during the election and was drawn to Trump due to his “Mexican rapist speech” and him calling for a border wall to be built. In an interview Sunday with The Daily Caller, Coulter let it be known she still has hope in the Trump presidency, but is ready to jump ship. [Read more…]

Sessions issues sweeping new criminal charging policy
Attorney General Jeff Sessions overturned the sweeping criminal charging policy of former attorney general Eric H. Holder Jr. and directed his federal prosecutors Thursday to charge defendants with the most serious, provable crimes carrying the most severe penalties. In a speech Friday, Sessions said the move was meant to ensure that prosecutors would be “un-handcuffed and not micromanaged from Washington” as they worked to bring the most significant cases possible. “We are returning to the enforcement of the laws as passed by Congress, plain and simple,” Sessions said. “If you are a dru g trafficker, we will not look the other way, we will not be willfully blind to your misconduct.” [Read more…]
